Day 1: Arrive in Christchurch. Country Estate Stay. D
You will arrive in Auckland Airport and clear customs early this morning. After you have completed the immigration formalities a representative of Australia 2000 Travel will meet you to deliver your additional New Zealand travel documents and help you transfer to the domestic terminal in time to connect with your onward flight to Christchurch. When you arrive in Christchurch Airport you will transfer to your boutique farm accommodation, Claremont Country Estate, a 1600-acre deer, sheep & cattle farm has it all! It is a New Zealand retreat and destination in its own right. Just 45 minutes from Christchurch you will be accommodated in a secluded luxury lodge and historic rural homestead surrounded by stunning scenery. With a host of activities from mountain biking, river swimming, relaxing in the breathtaking garden spa pool, taking a lazy siesta under vine-clad verandahs to tucked up in a comfy armchair reading by the fireside. What a wonderful means of meeting the locals, lovingly known as Kiwis.
Day 2: Half day 4X4 Discovery Tour. B D
You will join your host, Richard, on a unique and thrilling 4X4 tour of the estate to discover its amazing geological features. You will see dinosaur bones and Gods marbles in the wild and learn about the KT Boundary that played a part in the dinosaurs extinction.
Day 3: Whale Watching Tour and Kaikoura. Return to Christchurch. B
Farewell your hosts this morning and join your private full day tour to Kaikoura where you will have the rare thrill of joining a whale watching tour. Immediately off the shores of Kaikoura, the oceans continental shelf drops very steeply into myriad, exceedingly deep canyons and valleys. A cold southern sea current and a warm northern sea current combine off the coast of Kaikoura, creating an upwelling of current, rich in nutrients that attract a wide variety of marine life. From the decks of a vessel you may see the giant sperm whale. These awesome mammals can reach 60 feet in length and are present in the region for viewing all year round. At various times of the year you will observe additional whale species migrating through these waters. You could also see the local dusky dolphins, known to swim alongside the boats in play. Following your tour you will return to Christchurch with your guide. During your two nights stay in Christchurch you will be accommodated at a luxury boutique hotel located alongside beautiful Hagley Park and the tranquil Avon River. Day 4: Private Touring in Christchurch. B
This afternoon your private tour guide will meet you at your accommodation to escort you on a half-day introductory tour of the many wonderful sights of Christchurch, the city that is often described as the most English city outside of England. During your tour you will see the parks and gardens for which Christchurch is so well known as well as Cathedral Square, the Avon River, Hagley Park, Mona Vale and other sights that may be of particular interest to you.
Day 5 : Fly to Queenstown. B
You will transfer to Christchurch Airport in time to board your onward flight to Queenstown. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu at the foot of The Remarkables range, Queenstown is a year-round alpine resort where you can be wildly active or simply relax and unwind. The town is compact enough to get around on foot, and with courtesy vehicles, buses or taxis available to take you to outlying attractions. With more than 100 restaurants, plenty of entertainment, and some of the finest New Zealand shopping, Queenstown is a world-class holiday destination.
During your 3 nights stay in Queenstown you will be accommodated at a charming lodge overlooking the magnificent Lake Wakatipu and only three minutes from the center of Queenstown. You will be able to relax in the living room in front of an open log fire and marvel at the unobstructed views of the lake & mountains. Or take a book from the library and laze in the private courtyard whilst listening to a CD. As additional means of relaxation you may enjoy using the lodges sauna, solarium and gymnasium. Perhaps have your hosts arrange a massage.
Day 6: Lord Of The Rings Tour. B
This morning you will join the ninety-minute helicopter flight over Milford Sound. During this exciting flight you will fly over the Clinton Valley and down the Greenstone Valley, over Mitre Peak to the Tasman Sea. You will land on Milford Sound for photos. This flight is for a minimum of two passengers and subject to fine weather conditions. When you return from Milford Sound you will leave your helicopter at Glenorchy to join a safari on the Dart River to explore some of J R R Tolkiens mystic Middle Earth. During your tour aboard the jetboat you will travel along the vast Dart River through a maze of channels, past sheer granite faces to some of the most spectacular scenery in this national Park. You will learn some of the history, the geology &the flora & fauna of this area. Stops will be made Enroute to capture Kodak moments as they arise. The short bush walk through a timeless beech forest growing along a small mountain stream is quite breathtaking.
Day 7: At Leisure in Queenstown. B
Enjoy your day at leisure taking in the scenic delights of world famous Queenstown, adventure capital of New Zealand. You might enjoy a ride to the top of Bobs Peak in the gondola, a visit to the small animal zoo or living on the edge by experiencing one of Queenstowns many adrenaline-pumping activities. If a day at the spa is what you need today we will be happy to make those arrangements for you.
Day 8: Fly to Auckland. Private City Tour. B
You will transfer to Queenstown Airport in time to board your onward flight to Auckland. When you arrive in Auckland your specialist tour guide will meet you to escort you on a private tour of Auckland enroute to your hotel.
Vibrant and sophisticated Auckland is New Zealands largest and most cosmopolitan city. Known as the City of Sails, Auckland has two harbors and is surrounded by water and expansive parklands. It is also accessible to beaches and forests, adventure sports and leisure activities.
During your 2 nights stay in Auckland you will be accommodated at a luxury, contemporary, chic style hotel. Located on the waterfront in the heart of Auckland and overlooking Viaduct Harbour, your accommodation offers guests sweeping marina views and spacious pomenades that lead to the bustling restaurant and shopping districts nearby.
Day 9 : Full day touring with your specialist Maori Guide. B
This morning you will meet your specialist guide who is of Maori descent and will lead you on a full day tour to discover Auckland and its surrounds. You will visit One Tree Hill to embrace the stunning views of the city and its coastlines and learn the history of the mountain as Aucklands paramount Pa (Maori fortified village). During the day you will travel to the West Coast and enjoy a guided walk through the native rainforest and along a river to a series of waterfalls and to learn about the traditional uses of plants in Maori medicine- Rongoa. You will enjoy a birds-eye view of the Waitakere Ranges and the stormy West Coast beach at the summit of one of the peaks. Your day will conclude in the realm of Tangaroa, God Of The Sea as you explore the black sand Whatipu Beach, the least touched and the wildest of Aucklands famous West Coast Beaches. As you spend time with your guide you will learn a little of the Maori culture as it applies to the contemporary indigenous lifestyle. You will learn how the modern Maori incorporate the stories, activities and taonga (treasures) of their ancestors into their everyday lives.
Day 10: Depart New Zealand. B
This is this your last day in the Land of the Long White Cloud. You have the morning at leisure until your transfer to Auckland Airport in time to board your onward flight.
